I have 6 sons. One thing I did was allow them to stay up as late as they wanted if they were reading in bed. Everyone always had a light by the bed. For them it seemed like such a treat. Reading is the one thing that if you can inspire your kids to read well, the middle school and high school years will be so much easier. Find a series that they love ( Bobby Pendragon) and then keep buying books. I also refused to do the timed reading logs at home. That always seemed to make reading homework. My boys are all grown and all of them still love to read.
I bought a lemon cypress this past summer and it did not survive in the pot. I had it on the patio and think the sun and heat was just too much for it. Probably would have done better in the ground.
I’m with you I don’t wear hats or socks . The only time I wear socks is when there’s actually snow on the ground other than that I’m in my sandals or slip on that has fur in them and that’s it.
I’m in the Pittsburgh area and my big box stores carry very few of the Espoma product and none of the big bags. I buy a big bag of the Holly Tone at Costco, but can only buy the small bags of Biotone and usually can only find them at smaller independent nurseries. I would love to get my hands on a big bag!!
The huge amounts of views? It's because you are a wonderful (extended) family and because Laura is a witch who put spells on each and everyone of us! Her spontaneity, candid remarks and general honesty transpires. Even to us here in the end of the world/south of Brasil.
I went from not gardening at all to expanding my gardens every year thanks to your videos and guidance. Being from western Washington, Christiansons being one of my local stops, I was surprised how hard espoma products and PW plants are to find locally. Though I can travel across the mountains and find tons of options available.
It would be really neat to have some experts come in to talk about things that may just be outside your comfort zone – like having Nathan come talk trees or an arborist come talk about pruning evergreens. A little coffee and chat with an expert.
Speaking of the Chocolate Vine on a fence behind the tunnels what will you do between the greenhouse and the lot behind it where a new house is being built? It appears that the area is only about 4 feet wide and runs the entire length of the greenhouse. When you have the side raised your neighbors would have that view and you are always so considerate of what their view would be..wanting them to have something beautiful to look at.
Regarding splitting hosta, I have had great success with letting them die back in the fall, cut the foliage away and then see where the sections are. I then cut the plant like a pie and not all around the edges leaving the plant in the grown for the winter. I do that splitting in the fall not the spring because in the spring the little shoot may have started and you may damage them while splitting with a large shovel. In the spring I then can go in with just getting a piece of pie for the new plant. This way you can take you time to replant the pieces at your schedule. This process works so well because there is no wrestling a whole hosta while it rolls around your yard. Wish I thought of this idea 50 years ago so I wanted to share it to your young new gardeners. I live in California and I buy my biotone through Amazon. I did find some at tractor supply and they carry different varieties of the estoma fertilizer, which is all I use and Home Depot will carry some of the fertilizer but not the biotone
I love listening to you talk. I’m an auditory learner and can hear your voice in my head when I’m shopping for plants or actually gardening. The visuals are fabulous but your conversations, even just to the camera, are beyond useful.
If you have a picture of that rambler rose, you should send it to Floret, as she might be able to identify it. Wasn't she doing something with old roses at one time?

I ordered two chitalpas about a month ago. They come very small. Keeping mine in the pot until next spring.
