As summer begins to wind down, today I’ll be taking you on a September Walkabout in my Zone 6 Garden. Even though we’re about one month away from our first frost in Zone 6, I’ve still got loads of plants blooming and producing veggies, herbs and fruit. Monthly walkabouts are great for all gardeners. Make it a practice of taking your phone around your own garden and capture how plants are doing a different times throughout the year. Having videos and pictures to review can help gardeners reflect on what went well or not so well this season. Those reflections can be turned into action plans for next year’s garden. I know I’m already making plans for 2025.

  1. Hello. I found someone finally, lol, on YouTube that's in the same Zone as me, thank you so much for sharing your content to all of us, especially us "newbies", lol. It is very much appreciated!!! You have a beautiful set up and the scenery is out of this world!!! I love it, love it!!! I look forward to your next video, see you soon. 🙂

  2. I've been so discouraged by this year's heat in Missouri (north of St Louis for me). I think the idea of photographing the garden at each stage is a great reminder of what to expect next year. My great successes this year were potatoes, tomatoes, onions, okra and kale; limited success with carrots, radishes and corn; a complete failure with peppers, parsley and garlic (I think I planted them too early last Fall). It's fun to learn though. Thanks for sharing your monthly walk-abouts. I look forward to the ones you'll do in early Spring as I'm always unsure if my timing is right.
