In this episode of Garden Talk, I interview Kris from Crop Culture. He has been gardening for 5 years, and is big into crop steering – which is what we get into in today’s episode. He talks all about the basics of crop steering, from what crop steering is, types of crop steering, climate, lighting, irrigation, and so much more. What type of plants do you like to grow? Lettuce, bok choy, house plants, fruit trees, kale, potatoes, let us know in the comments section below. If you enjoyed this video please click that thumbs up button 🙂

Frostiest buds from windstress.. Watch out if it's not calcium residue from the water 😅
How does DLI relate to lights off? Are we looking for 40 DLI during during the light hours only, or averaged over 24 hrs?
✌️😎🔥🔥🔥
"crop steering" is just growing a plant well…really kinda dumb to rename having a green thumb into "youtube sound bite" culture.
I appreciate you Chris for sharing knowledge and having guest on the podcast to share their knowledge.
I've been doing this for years. Didn't know there was a term for it
Willow’s is a natrul root inhancer like alow cinimon
Not sure about this one
Chris is chatGPT for this knowledge. 🤘🏼🪴
PART 2! Great Episode with a wealth of knowledge! Peach ferments from Fire Ferments for the win!
# part two.
Definitely a Part 2 🎯
Outside i had giant plants in120 plus farinhite 90 at night out in the desert my indoor plants where just as hot till the last 4 weeks of flower everyone said you can't grow out there you won't get any terps they smelled and tasted great and after 3 years they had climatised. And grew better than the first Year and it was hotter
Cris I have one plant with a fan directly on the roots and it definitely is way more frosty
Encore 👏
I am on the exact same page as the opening statement. I can’t find any good herb at the dispensary. I’m dialed in for organic living soil. Once you smoke my herb you will never want anything else. I also collect seeds and have so many strains. I also grow the best tasting tomatoes with the same method.
Chris & Kris LFG!!!!💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥 #CropCrew
Last year my indoor temperature was at 101 102 no issues healthy plants
My experience with instant light flip, is tip burn. Keeping DLI constant with out hurting your plant from increased light intensity, as for me? still working on it.
Awesome guest 👏
I dont know why my comment was removed ,i thought this episode was about crop steering ,i added a method that many gardeners use and my comments keep getting removed whats up with that?
I disagree with his description of generative and vegetative steering, generative steering is not changing light cycle to 12 and 12 generative steering is applying stresses usually through high dry backs and bulking substrate ec, you can generative steer at any point as well as vegetative steer, vegetative steer is applying less stress like low dry backs and less substrate ec which allows plants to grow rapidly.
You typically vegetative steer all through veg then go generative during stretch then go back to vegetative during mid flower to bulk your buds and finally finish with generative again to rippen however you can steer however you want
At 21:48 mind blown. Light changing flavor and smell. This conversation is amazing! I’m loving it ❤️
Part 2 I ordered his july box and it was awesome like a barkbox for stoners
Very well, thanks fellas.
Part 2
🔥💨🦨✌️👊
Generative steering is a lot more than just lighting 12/12. Generative steering we want higher VPD, higher EC, higher PPFD, you want to start irrigation later in the day and achieve less run off. One run off event mid way thru the day with longer dry backs over night. Lots and lots more I can get into but generative crop steering increases bud sites in early flower while also ripening in late flower. swap back and forth from veg to gen growth to trigger certain hormonal responses. But crop steering is temp, humidity, co2, vpd, irrigation events, EC, etc.
Home grower no sensors other than air stats. Crop steering can be done really just by reading your plants and setting a rigid schedule.
totally agree 15:30 stress test with heat and light is key in the beginning stages and guage from there, keeping a close eye on when the plant begins to wilt or leaf curl.
Take up a bit of home brewing or wine making…that is your co2 supplementation. Just a thought.
Bro this is cause the vdp everyone is going by. This is not for living soil. Im often running at 95° all the way throughout my grow. With a swamp cooler in summer. I do not heat heat stress and some of the best flowers you have seen.
Lol cooling plants in week 6 of flower to preserve terps that dont develop till fully developed flowers😅. Um ya ok.
I had to stop at 8 minutes into that ear beating monolgue… take a breath dude.
Awesome video, fast hour for sure.
11:00 content finally started
Do you swap back and forth from generative to vegetative steering throughout your plant life cycle? If so what's your schedule. I myself do generative to vegetative to back to generative in flower.
