I try to have flowers growing in the garden all year round and violas are a great flower for autumn growing as they can tolerate cooler temperatures and continue to bloom through the winter when colour in the garden can be limited.

They are edible too which always a plus! πŸ˜‹πŸŒΈ

They can be direct sown into growing beds or containers and will grow quickly, or if pests like slugs are an issue, sprinkle seeds into a pot, add a very thin layer of compost, water them well and leave them to germinate. πŸŒ±πŸ‘€

Then prick out each seedling into individual pots, let them grow on in safety and then plant them around the garden when they can larger plants. πŸŒΏπŸŒΈπŸ‘πŸ»

They are a great one to fill gaps under summer plants like tomatoes as they mature now we are getting to the end of their season too. πŸ…πŸŒ±

They are such a sunny little flower that come in wide range of colours, so get sowing those violas and let me know if there are other flower varieties you grown in September? 😊🌱#diy #gardening #gardening #flower #september #gardeningtips #vegetablegarden #flowergarden #seedsowing
