Available to home gardeners. The ‘Purple Tomato’ is crossed with a snapdragon to increase the purple hue of the tomato and increase anthocyanin.

❤this in no way shape or form help cancer in any way. Please stop fake information…you are clearly in the dark
Lets go GMO!!! I grew them this season and they were very very sweet and they look amazing.
Slippery slope….
I'm unsubscribing because I can't believe that you grew anything gmo … satan's attempt to outshine Creator poisoning humans in the process. Bio-engineering of food 😧More than a Bad Choice😤
Great demo, but it’s a no for me.
UNSUBSCRIBE!!!!!
BIO ENGINEERING is destroying our food supply
That pollen doesn't stay in your backyard
I can't believe you would promote it
I will never promote you or send another person to your videos or website
BETRAYED
Abomination.
My reason for not growing them is the same reason I do not grow orange tomatoes, had to tell when they are ripe.
No thanks!
My sister in law gave me a packet of seeds for my birthday this spring. Out of the 15 seeds, 2 germinated. But the plants that did were/are super prolific. I like the flavor, not the very best, but pretty good. The skins were super tough, though. I'm not a big GMO person, certainly not in my garden, but gave it a try since the packet was a gift. Probably won't grow again, but it was a fun experiment.
I’m not a fan of GMO plants. They are a byproduct scientifically engineered that can survive depleted soils and less than favorable growing environments. The nutritional value of food is not what it once was. I don’t have any garden plants that can go a month without water. The soybeans next to my property managed to survive. I mean drought ready soybeans? Unfortunately most everything purchased in stores in GMO.
Nope, no GMO Frankenfood for me thanks. Eat some blueberries instead
With Climate change and different parts of the world having difficulty growing food, I think GMO's have there place. This has to be done to insure we have food in the future around the world. With that said, I agree with you on the example of GMO corn. Labeling has to be different for what they are doing. I usually grow organic and hybrid seeds.
I'm not against GMOs in theory but I just don't see a point to this when there are plenty of other great fruits and veg that have natural anthocyanin. Aren't the seed for these tomatoes really expensive too? I just planted a new mulberry tree today. mulberries are very rich in natural anthocyanin and fairly easy to grow.
I found the taste to be bland when they arent fully ripe. Its hard to tell because you have to wait longer than just after they turn brown. I'm going to let them grow and get used to this environment. My black cherry that volunteers is gaining taste and doesnt split as much after 3 generations.
My GMO or Bio-engineered purple tomatoes followed exactly the same course as yours, color-wise, but the germination rate was lower than other cherry-type tomatoes I grew. I agree that it has a simple, one-note sweetness to it. The flavor doesn't hold a candle to my current favorite cherry-type tomato called Super Nova, an oval-shaped red tomato with orange stripes with a complex tomatoey flavor. One of my neighbors commented that tasted like taking a big bite out of a beefsteak tomato. I won't be growing The Purple tomato again. The flavor just isn't worth it to me.
I’m OK with hybrid but not interested in GMO
The amount of fear and ignorance in these comments… Wow! Science isnt always evil. Do some actual research instead of living scared and ignorant.
Very interesting… Looks like they'd be a fun grow… I've grown Indigo Rose many times over the years, and they have a nice purple color to them, and were actually very nice tasting.. These purple toms in the Vid seem more like the novelty variety Brad's Atomic Grape, which are very colorful, but also nothing special as for taste..
Awesome looking tomato.
GMO plants are always fascinating to me. I don't know if I'd ever grow those if they are plain tasting. Still a cool tomato though.
Thanks Gary. You're the 1st gardener I sub to post the Norfolk Purple Tomato. I bought these out of interest (they weren't cheap) In CA zone 9B I have 2 big bountiful plants in my small subdivision yard. They are bland but beautiful. There is nothing sinister about a snapdragon + tomato. I agree on the weariness over gCorn. I will grow Purple Tomatoes again 👍
I think I bought the same purple tomatoes at Lidls. Absolutely no flavor whatsoever even with a little salt on them. I wouldn't purchase them again.
I don’t understand why so many people are hating on this plant just because it’s a GMO? Literally the only thing they have changed was inserting a gene for the purple colour, it is literally harmless. I will never understand this silly obsession people have with NaTuRaL gOoD mAn MaDe BaD, do people seriously think eating GMO food is gonna make them sprout a third leg or something??? Are people so ignorant about their own biology they don’t even understand how food is broken down, like do people think their gonna get radiation poison from eating GMO food or something, it’s ridiculous!!!!
