Saw this guy in the garden this morning at the perimeter fence of our property, beside out chickens. It was cool to get a chance to see it up close and stationary like that but obviously highly unfortunate that it was stuck. My dogs just alerted me that something was over there and they sat there calm and chilled until I got over. Looked at it for half a minute then I grabbed my gloves and carefully freed it and it flew away. Cool experience for me and the bird seemed physically unharmed

Little dude was like, “well, this is awkward…how’s things?”
Good dogs.
I always wonder in situations like that after the bird is freed is it like:
1. Ha, he nearly had me, but I escaped with my powerful cunning & sharp claws!
2. Jesus, he totally he me there, I was lucky he slipped up and released just long enough for me to get away.
3. Huh. Interesting. Weird behaviour. Seemed… nice?
His face says “I’ve made a terrible miscalculation “
Cool story.
One of these has started appearing around my housing estate, I live in the middle of Dublin I’d never seen any kind of bird of prey around in all my 30+ years living here.
He has the other birds scourged they go ballistic any time he’s around
Step-human what are you doing?
Do you think it was going after your hens when it got stuck?
Very cool! You should log it on the National Biodiversity Data Centre [here](https://records.biodiversityireland.ie/start-recording). I log whenever I think of it, especially if I see something unusual.
