  1. And 25 years from now they'll all change their minds and decide it's not. Bloody architects

  2. Used to think Japanese Zen architecture was a marketing jargon and had no substance until I visited one, You really feel the difference in your mind, It's peaceful and calms your nerves.

  3. The water makes me miss the lake. My husband has family who live right off a lake. Nothing more peaceful than floating in a lake. The silence and weightless feeling are sublime.

  4. Honestly, to me, I find this space kinda terrifying. It makes me feel like something is hiding behind the corner or under the water

  5. Don't feel at peace, the building is very harsh and closed off for me. Idunno. Maybe its better it person.

  6. This reminds me of two underrated architects I think you might enjoy; Luis Barragan and Ricardo Legorreta.

  7. This is gorgeous. But so are the "fractal" patterned tiles at the Alhambra, as well as the patterns at the Taj Mahal . Please "explain" this?❤❤❤❤❤

  8. I love the quote at the end.
Also, I always think adding water to architecture in this way really adds depth and serenity. ❤

  9. Given that Japanese scripts don’t allow for Western style initials (DT), I wonder how the museum’s name is spelled in Japanese

  10. This Suzuki guy that introduced zen to the west, was an ardent supporter of Japanese militarism and the brutal invasion of Manchuria, china, Indonesia, ETC… Part of his work was actually integrating Zen into the military, to desensitize soldiers to committing acts of violence and terror with bhuddist enlightenment, thinking of themselves not as committing these heinous acts but as simply a passive observer to the oneness of being, in which they don’t identify substantially as perpetrator or victim. This philosophy can be repurposed from committing mass murder on an obscene and unheard of scale, to being used to make cute water gardens…

  11. I don't know a lot about Japanse architecture, but this video also reminds me a lot of the European Bauhaus architecture. Are they related? And if so, which one influenced the other?
    I love this building!!
