A friend was plant sitting and this babe dropped off its mother a week ago by accident.
Volunteered to take it home and give it a try
Does anyone know what this is? If so where to trim the stump for propagation, any preferred soil mediums?

it looks like it could be a type of philodendron ? not sure which
Looks like its in the same family as a silver bay. Aglaonema. Not sure tho just reminds me of mine
It’s most likely a dieffenbachia. They prefer well draining soil and are very sensitive to root rot. You can just jam it into the soil and it will root. Dip in rooting powder if you want to be sure.
Dieffenbachia, or dumb cane. Bright, indirect sun – water only when it starts to dry out, make sure you have good drainage in the pot.
